In the hope of some escapism I’m off to see Rouge One – A Star Wars story. But let me start by saying how much I enjoyed being in Helsinki. There’s no crashing and banging, loud coffee machines, or crashing and banging of cups and saucers. Heaven! We just don’t have the culture of quiet. And for some reason I’m off to see a film with loads of bangs, crashes, and explosions. Even exploding space ships will make a noise – in space!
A small group of good people will be fighting the bad people. Both of which will be using the “force” at some point. It’s not like one will be using one force and one will be using another. From what I’m guessing, the Dark side will be in the majority, or at least be in control of lots of good people who must do what they say, or actually be bad guys. But do these bad guys actually know that they are? People don’t actually choose to be be evil, but they probably do what will save their skins, or souls. After all, the good people are probably going to kill loads of people too.
More importantly, this whole Jedi thing seems a bit dangerous. If it’s really easy to find yourself on the dark side, why bother? Especially, when it’s more likely that you’ll find yourself doing more harm than good. Perhaps the good ones aren’t doing it right. Or good and evil (but the dark side isn’t referred to as evil) are different sides of the same coin which doesn’t have a 50-50 chance of heads or tails.
In my opinion, it’s good that Jediism isn’t regarded as a religion. Otherwise, Death Stars will appear in the not too distant future.
