Back to Work

02 Jan 2017_1

I’m having one beer in the same place I had my coffee earlier. One, that’s it. There will be no hangover, or slightly drunk feeling. Perhaps, I’ll even drive in to the office. So let’s prepare:

“How as Christmas?”

“Great thanks. Yours?”

There will be no “great to be back”s. There will be no room for ambiguity regarding sarcasm about how great it is to be back. I’m just ready to carry on. And next year I will definitely not have my annual leave in the winter months when the weather is bad and the days are short.

I must be ready to go back now. As ready as everyone else who doesn’t want to be back. It’s best not too look to happy, or too sad. There is an easy path in the middle to walk along, and only a fool would wander of it.

There is a small reason to celebrate. Just this moment, I’ve realised that I’ve completed ten years service with the company. Most of this is a bit of a blank, and some of it has been much worse than it needed to be.

I liked my early blogs – the funny ones!

There’s little doubt that I’ve become more than a little self indulgent with the therapy. The good news is that I’m edging closer to a 1000 word average each day. Authors aim to do this, and they write books! Obvious, I know, but there is a point. They create something. Readers don’t care what time they got out of bed, or that they weren’t working eight hours a day.

I could spend one our each day writing. The brain uses energy, and that burns calories. This could be my mental gym. It is a much better way to spend time, than crosswords, or sudoku. And it don’t have to change and shower. It doesn’t even matter what I write about. Pouring my heart out in to a novel isn’t going to happen, and no-one will know.

Still no laughs

Hang in there. Laughs will come.

So, here we are. Things that have happened:

  1. A social media detox
  2. I bought a Nokia 130 mobile phone today. It does text and calls
  3. My strategy is progressing
  4. I’m ready for 2017

I have no problem with starting a book and scraping it. But I won’t throw good ideas away, or bad ones for that matter. The chances of making any money will be worse than slim, at best. If you’ve been reading any of blogs that will be clear.

Beer drunk, 400 words exceeded, time to see if my bike is still where I locked it up!
