I want an electric mountain bike. Not that I go mountain biking, but I want one. The idea that I could use one to travel to work in a 20 mile radius. Given that I’d be using it only on the road and not in mountains kind of makes sense to me. Buying a hybrid bike and spending £800 pounds less seems like a bit of a “middle of the road” option. The more expensive option that will never really be used is definitely the best option. So, that’s all sorted then. Just let me check the prices.
It would be great to have one, but I really can’t justify spending £2500 – £4000 on a nice to have option. And the reason I’d need a mountain bike is because of all the potholes that seem to appear after rain or snow. But it would be great. Sitting in a car every day on a drive to the office seems so pointless. The only problem is that it’s really not an option to ride to work. This could be lack of facilities in the work place, heavy laptops and equipment, and more importantly, over congested roads.
I still want an electric mountain bike. And I promise I’d take it for rides every day. Promise!
My smart phone has started telling me when there’s heavy traffic in my area. Many of these journeys could be on bus or bike. And that would be great. I could drive to work quicker, just like the old days. But I would ride if I could. And I’d like a message stating lots of cyclists are riding right now.
But I still want an electric mountain bike.
One of my bikes needs to go. At least one of my four. It’s not easy, because I need them all. There’s a town bike, and a road bike (which is a good town bike), there’s my best road bike (but is it good enough?), and my CX bike, which is good enough, just.
But I still want an electric mountain bike. And I wouldn’t mind a better road bike too.
Perhaps I’ll just buy an better bike helmet. And that’s not cheap either. I think I’ll stick to the couch and the car. Expense, may be society’s problem.
