In years to come, parents will tell children the story about the Easter Bunny arriving on a sleigh pulled by tiny mice, and delivering chocolate eggs. But this year, the Easter Bunny is dead. Heshe froze in the snow. Sorry kids, no novelty confectionery to fuel the obesity crisis! The Bunny will of course rise again.
I like snow, and it’s more probable to have snow around Easter than it is around Christmas these days. Sure, people die, but the photos of countryside look great, and it reminds me of when I was young.
On Sunday, the country will no doubt grind to a halt. Then other countries will mock us for not dealing with a little bit of snow. After that, people in this country will criticise our ability to deal with adverse weather. And be part of running our country down.
The truth is that our economy is base on the “just in time” method to keep food on the shelves. This was the fashion in business and helps save costs. Airports run at near 99% capacity. This is because we want food on the table and to be able to travel whenever we want. Businesses want to run efficiently and make money too. All of this is understandable and works when conditions are near perfect.
The supply chain problem KFC suffered recently is an example of things going wrong. They changed their delivery service of chicken from Bidvest to DHL. And in no time, two hundred shops ran out of chicken. When you eat a KFC chicken it grew to the great age of 34 days. But that’s not the point. The restaurants, for use of a better word will have a limited storage capacity and need to keep their sock up to a workable level in order to supply us with twice as much as we probably need.
So kids. If you don’t get your chocolate eggs, you can always overeat, well anything.
End.
