This is amazing. Spring has finally arrived and instantly turned in to summer. And work has brought me to the Big Smoke for a couple of days. Life makes sense again. Not every day is going to be like this. And not every day could have been like this in the past.
Suddenly, I’ve realized just in time, that the deodorant I packed with me needed using. I used the roller ball in the cafe I’m sitting in without anyone noticing. If only I could do the same for my feet. My socks are clean, but my shoes have seen a few winters. No one will notice – no one. But I am pretty sure I could smell my own sweaty socks on a packed Tube train the other day. It’s just my imagination. And the pretty lady in the red dress in the table next to me hasn’t ran away in disgust yet, so I think I’m doing ok for now.
What to do on an afternoon like this? I could be travelling home from my meeting, to sit on a sweaty train. Or (as I am doing) hang around to catch up with someone and keep the light on my logon green. That’s my mind made up then! I’m having a little thinking time and some personal investment. After all, you never know when you need the extra energy for another day, or a 5 O’Clock start with travel and a full working day.
I’m happy just sitting here and watching the sun from a distance. Holiday time right now would make it even better. But at least I’m in a cafe, not on a work call, and looking busy and possibly interesting, but I’m not counting on that.
Think! Is there some really important work thing I need to be doing right now? Think!

All good! It’s important to look after myself. Tomorrow and next week will be busy enough
This isn’t what I expected at the start of last week. Welcome again to the modern way of working. I’m flexible like that!
Enjoy the moment. Tomorrow may kick you in the balls. Take some time out and decompress.
Good to be getting closer to my five hundred words again. Some factor five hundred sun block could come in handy too!
