World Cup

There’s a World Cup going on. That’s THE football World Cup. It’s in Russia and no-one has been beaten up. What we have learned is that the majority of the people in the world aren’t complete twats, but can be manipulated by people in power in order to hate each other, or at least have hurt feelings about how other people think about them.

In short, Russia is a nice place now. The world has moved on and people like sitting in cafes drinking expensive coffee now. We don’t want to fight. We want to get to know each other and chill out. That’s what normal people want.

I have no doubt that Russia isn’t a great place to be LGBTQ or whatever it is now, or a journalist opposed to the Russian government aka Vladimir Putin. What I will say is this. They can organise a great World Cup. This shouldn’t be too much of a shock. Afterall, they were great with drug doping at London 2012 and Sochi.

Perhaps the whole feeling of happiness and joy caused Edward Snowdon to remind the world that Russia is a corrupt country. This is quite a brave move considering that he has been given safe haven in Moscow until 2020. But perhaps, he’s gaining favour with some of the people who will welcome him back. At least he’s being even handed in his criticism.

27% and 50 mins left. Do I need that new laptop after all. Stop this!

I suppose what I’m really saying is that this is an entertaining TV event. I’m not in love with football again, I’m just happy that good football is happening. There may be no violence in Russia, but Cardiff v Swansea, Spurs v Arsenal, Sunderland v Newcastle will still require a heavy police presence and this is not good.

For the moment, the world is great. This has to be a good thing and I hope it lasts. People around the world will realise that they aren’t so bad. And what they really need to do is group against the really bad people. These are probably people that they haven’t got to know yet, so they are definitely bad.

At least, people can join together, if only for a little while.

C’mon England!
