I’m flying in a couple of hours and treating myself to the Aspire lounge at T5. It looks fine and the coffee is great. But like many places, they are not there to make you too comfortable. It’ll start with the table height. The bench seat I’m perched on isn’t very high off the ground and the small table in front of me is almost at ankle height. What it is though is nice and quiet. There’s not even any need for me to wear headphones. This is bliss!
The other main thing which is making me happy is that I’m here on a short holiday to somewhere I would never have visited. And when I get there, there will be hotel lounge (please let me be upgraded. I’m almost Diamond!) which will be quiet, and there will be open spaces which will be quiet. All this relaxation might take my mind of the fact that I’m going to Munich and not having a drink!
All I need to do is imagine some causal link between not drinking and being all chilled and visiting places, almost without a care in the world. That’s my fiction and I’m going to stick with it. After all, there may be many positives I don’t know about yet, or haven’t happened for which my future self will thank me.
Germany has strick purity laws on beer. Maybe it’s all the chemicals in beer sold in Britain that have made me ill in the past. What I’m saying is that German beer is pure, and good for you.No, stop this! I really think some of my internal voices should stay in my head where they belong.
If I have a beer, I might have another, and possible have a hangover. For a three night stay, I can’t afford to be sick and there will be Alkohol Frie choices. I’ve had the German options at home, so they must be in Bavaria.
Beer free it is then. My gate will be showing in 17 minutes, so I thinks it’s time for another coffee.
One last thing. No one needs to be drinking beer in the morning. It may be a free bar after you’ve paid your entrance, but you’re not winning. End of short rant!
