Hiring a bike is the best thing I’ve done so far on a trip away. 18 Euros for the day is a bargain, especially when you’re in a bike friendly city. It might weigh almost as much as i do, the handling is a bit strange, and the brakes squeal. Otherwise everything is great. It has lights, and I can stay out all day without any plan of where I’m going.
Some people want to travel the world and only visit any place once. This is a bit of a money trap. The other thing about this is that only one visit could lead you to missing great places. I think my plan is to pick somewhere with a strategy. That strategy is to have a look around, miss the obvious places, and if I like it I’ll come back. Places chance over time, so returning a few years later you’ll find that the place has changed anyway.
It’s autumn in Munich. The leaves are turning brown, and the sky is blue. This looks like the perfect autumn day, except for the fact that it feels warm enough to be summer. All of this is still an improvement to back home where autumn doesn’t happen anymore. Here, the leaves have fallen to the ground and they are left where they fell. Not one leaf blower can be heard here. Not one!
Behind me in the BMW museum cafe, tourists are taking pictures of their food. It’s sausage and chips! The sausages have been cut up in to pieces, but really? At some time in the future, Facebook, Google, and whoever we give our information away to are going to take notice of this. Just try and get health insurance if you post pictures of fast food and beer all the time. Google will easily be able to work out how much exercise you get every day, as long as you have your phone with you. You could spend £400 on a smart watch so you can see, but they already know.
Anyway, it’s a lovely day outside and I’m going to waste that and pay to visit the BMW museum. I burn easily, even on days like these.
