Conspiracy Theories – Revisited

Written 2nd Sept 2014

Background: Posted this and then decided it may be have been taken the wrong way by anyone who read it. I’m not a conspiracy theorist. My news sources aren’t Infowars, Russia Today, Press TV, and the Daily Mail. And like many of my posts, they are short, sometimes not very well written. This one holds up in my opinion, and it almost gets to the point. If the reader doesn’t get the point of a sentence that appeared in my head and on to my keyboard it is probably that I think I thought I knew what it meant, or was there to make me stop and think.

Conspiracy Theories

Around the world, at least my western world, all of the news outlets seem to report on the same news. The television channels may differ, but the news always appears to be the same. This suggests that what is reported is true. But let’s say our media is reporting on a war. There’s the old saying that history is written by the victors. But propaganda is written by both sides. So when one side wins, their propaganda becomes news, and history.
The moon landings are an obvious target of conspiracy theorists. Many people just don’t believe that NASA landed a man on the moon. It is something that I almost share in. But to fake such a thing would be much more difficult. The technology of the time just was not able to produce the slow motion footage to produce the low gravity footage. Unless of course, it had been ten years in the making. The other technological feature in the favour of a possible hoax would be the poor quality of black an white television in 1969.

In September 11th 2001, Islamic terrorists, probably financed by Saudi Arabia crashed two airliners into New York’s Twin Towers. The first of these incidents was not caught on camera. The second crash in to the other tower was “caught” on film. There is footage on YouTube showing the second plane hitting the tower, but we don’t actually see that. What we do see is a big kerosene explosion and no debris from the aircraft. This does not stand up to simple scrutiny, and can be explained by the use of video editing.

Now, I’m not saying that Islamic terrorists weren’t responsible for the tragedy of 2001 where 3000 people died. What I am saying is that what we saw may not have been what really happened. There is footage of the third plane crashing in to the strong structure of the Pentagon, but the evidence does not match the official story. Or at least the official story. Finally, there was the fourth aircraft that failed to reach the final destination of the White House, due to the bravery of the passengers.

In all of the four cases, real people died. And real people died as a result of the UK standing “shoulder to shoulder” with the USA in bombing a third world country trying to catch a man it took over a decade to track down. The members of the terrorist training camps probably moved over the border in to Pakistan whilst we were effectively recruiting civilians in to the Taliban. A the same time as this, we were asking one of the poorest countries of the world to spend all of their money on a police force and army.

I don’t have any problem in saying that I don’t have access to all the facts. It’s just that if anyone verbalises any doubt about the “facts” of something like 9-11, there will be a reply along the lines of “so, you probably don’t believe man landed on the moon!”. My best reply to that is “not every time!”
