I’m going to take the chance to go away for three weeks next month. This is my time to do it and I have the opportunity. January is rubbish and I’ll be back on the job market. A good way to deal with this is plan a trip away. My only slight worry is engaging a solicitor to add a signature to a piece of paper. That worry is that I won’t get hit for some hidden charges. I’ve been told that I won’t, but it’s enough for a little anxiety.
A day later………
Decisions have been made, and subject to one or two things I have the world at my feet. Now is the time to start planning properly – please let everything be sorted tomorrow – and I can get on and do some worthwhile jobs and invest in myself. I’ve taken the leap at a good time. No time is ever perfect, so I’ll plant the tree now – I’m sure there’ll be a reference to planting trees in my archive.
As it is winter in the northern hemisphere I’ll be heading south. This is my check list written on the fly:
- Head somewhere where it’s summertime.
- Avoid trouble spots. No wars, or civil unrest.
- Go somewhere where I wouldn’t normally think about visiting.
- Avoid malaria zones – not worth it.
- Avoid anywhere where I need jabs.
- Have jabs for simple things that would be sensible.
- Go away for at least three weeks.
- Enjoy some luxury, but not much.
- Write a travel blog to keep myself busy.
- Have a planned itinerary.
- Think about where my £££s will get me the best spending power.
- Do not have a cycling holiday.
- Running shoes allowed, but it will not be a running holiday.
- Go snorkelling.
- Relax.
- Come back to an orderly flat. That means sorting all my accounts, and admin before leaving.
- Work on a hobby, or learn something.
- Be ready to be busy when I come back.
- Spend, but don’t go crazy.
- Make sure it’s time well spent.
Now, that is a long list of non-specifics! It needs work, but let’s take one step at a time. Then I can think about what happens in the weeks before and the months after.
What else do I want to do? Just planning a trip away and coming back is nothing without a good outcome, but perhaps just doing it will open up new doors.
