I think we’re living in a time of quantum politics. By that, I mean that we’re finding out about things that have always been there. We’ve found this out in a similar way that the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) does. The LCH accelerates particles in opposite directions and smashes them together to see what they’re made of. It’s one of the ways physics uses to find out what we’re made of. Brexit is our political LHC and we’re going to find out what we’re made of. And when we do that, we find out that strange rules apply. In the case of today, the government lost it’s Brexit vote by a record 230 votes.
So what’s happened here? The political universe surely must explode. That’s what the political rules point to. But this hasn’t happened before and what will happen is that we’ll find out that none of this should happen and we’ll revert to a normal state. This is similar to what happens in the LHC. When particles are smashed together, the evidence of there existence only is only visible for a tiny fraction of a second. After that, they no longer become possible and disappear. We are learning more about Brexit as we go and the old classical views will become the foundations of our new knowledge.
Uncertainty The probability of this happening was very, very, very low and we’re in uncharted territory. This state should not exist, and as such it won’t exist as soon as possible. 203-432 is where we were, not where we are now. Normal rules don’t apply in a state like this. It was so bad for the Prime Minister, the opposition leader could hardly believe it. He will raise a vote of no confidence tomorrow, but the gravity of the situation will work against him. You’d expect – given that things are going so badly for the government – that he’d be able to beat the government hands-down. He’s pushing on an open door, but he hasn’t got a clue. Despite the government doing so badly, he’s coming off worse because he can’t hit an easy target. His problem is that he’s trying to be in two states at the same time. And very soon, the country will find out what his position is.
Very often, the more you look at something the more you find out you don’t know. Anyone who says they understand Brexit, doesn’t know what they’re talking about. These are the days when we can learn more about who we are and how we do it. We’ve found out that our political system won’t explode, in the same way that smashing particles together won’t create mini black holes that will destroy us all. The bonds that bind us together are stronger that the forces that try to smash us to pieces, even if we’ve found out about lots of weirdness that’s going on when we extreme conditions apply.
I really hope some of this makes sense!
