Wisdom Teeth

I’m back again! And not for the first time. Other things seemed more important, such as booking dentist appointments. This time I only left it for four years. The good news is that all I need is a return appointment to give them a deep clean. I promised to come back for a checkup in six months as well.

My lesson from the last few weeks is that details matter. Once something has slipped for days, weeks, months, and years it gets hidden under all the other things that have built up. If you’re lucky, money can get you out of a situation, or you have someone to do all the domestic work. So, hearing that it may be worth removing my wisdom teeth has made me think. They’ve been poking out of my bottom jaw for well over half of my life and haven’t caused any problems yet. But if they do, I don’t want to think about what might go wrong. The best thing to do is review it in six months. It’s not a priority right now.

Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to be taking a good hard look at where I’ve been and where I’m going. It’s like pulling teeth. And now that I think about it, I’d rather have my possible problematic wisdom teeth pulled out. If only they could be pulled out. Removing them will involve hammer and chisel work! There’ll have to be a bloody good reason to get rid of them. They can wait. I will look after the details and make sure they don’t cause any problems.

This experience has made me wiser after all. Compared to having my teeth out, I’d favour facing other fears and conquering them. It’s not going to be easy, but using the wisdom of the teeth will keep me focused. And once I’ve started looking at how I can earn a living I can share that time with messing around with other things that are more fun and may lead me down better paths.

That’s more than enough thinking for now. I’ve made the most of my sit down in the local cafe. The time to start working on things is now. I’ll worry about being a few words short another time.
