We all have choices in life. The choice of making your immediate environment better seems obvious, but it’s not always that easy. There have been many time where I’ve stepped over or walked past some rubbish or half eaten takeaway food. I don’t want to do that anymore. What I want is to put a little effort in to make my little part of the world better.
Yesterday was my next step. I bought some bulbs from a shop around the corner and decided to plant some of them to improve the view from my back window. The strange this is the buzz that I got out of it. I have no idea if they’ll decide to grow from my rushed effort. Ten were planted and I’d be happy if one of them grows and flowers. All I need to do is wait for three months. But all I want to do is have another try now. This is where I get my danger these days!
I will give it another effort, but there are too many security lights out front. I’ll have to be quick if I do that. This is exciting! Perhaps it’s the idea of some future planning. Maybe it’s because I saw some overgrown area last year. It was only a small patch of ground with long grass, flowers, and weeds. I liked the name Bug Hotel.
I’m going to watch Newsnight and see how messed up politics has become, wait until I can be reasonably sure that no-one will be around and go on maneuvers. There’s no point in having bulbs and not using them.
Watch this space!
It’s tomorrow now and I didn’t go on a raid last night. Doing it this afternoon in daylight was a better idea. I even cleared up some rubbish that had been there for a long time. Thinking about it makes me happy. Now it’s time for long-term happiness, and that means a proper job hunt. The time is now!
Several months later
The job hunt started and stopped, I’ve had fun feeding the birds, and I’ve decided to start doing things again. The bulbs have so far enjoyed limited success – but I am hoping for some flowers when the sun comes out in the summer. My bug hotel idea was short lived. It’s a bit of a shame, so I’ll get back to the housing association. When did we wage a war on grass?
