I’m not sure I can spell casserole, so I’m having a beef stew instead. My recent habit on camps is to make at least one proper meal with vegetables I have to cut up. This makes the most of my Trangia stove. I wish I could put some red wine in, but I have my no drinking rule. The pan is going to boil away with the lid on until the flame burns out. With a bit of luck, this will take an hour and the beef will be tender. I have a good feeling about this. However it cooks, it will all be eaten. On the bird watching front, I have a couple of Bulfinches near my tent. I think I’ve only ever seen them in books. Give nature some habitat to share with us and they’ll retun. I’ve seen wood pigieon, chafinches, blackbirds, blue tits, a ring ousel, and a few others I don’t have names for.I must be patient and let the stew cook. 25 minutes until perfection! The 30p sachet of beef stew is where the magic happens, but I play my part as well.

I like having a routine of sorts. It takes your mind away from thinking what to do next and lets you think about what to do next. Tomorrow is my last day, so if it rains I’ll visit the capital of the highlands and if not, I’ll ride my bike or run around the lake. If I’m up early I’ll do all of them.Sixteen minutes to go. I must be patient, even if it is getting a little cold. Or, until the flame runs out. Time to eat!The food was a triumph. But the next time I put a massive pot of food on I will ask people looking a bit cold if they want any. I’ll do the same tomorrow and say hello. Needless to say, I scoffed it all. Perhaps some Guiness would have added some flavour! I’ll have to learn to season my food another way.I suppose I should start adding a few pictutes here and there. And then again, not. Slow wi-fi is a bit of a drag. Perhaps why my photos aren’t loading. Anyways, I’m sorting out my tech and getting used to uploading backups to my Google Drive. Different things are a lot less frustrating when I’ve worked out how to do what I want to do. My upcoming travels are about that as much as anything else. Now how do I find a word count?I’ve decided I don’t care about the number, it’s about the quality now.Only I do careI think I’m good to go!
