Off-line

Great news! I don’t need to buy a Windows laptop. I can use WordPress off-line on the Chromebook. This is a good thing. Spending £200 pound on something I don’t need could amount to three nights in a hotel somewhere cheap. Costs like this are suddenly going to become more and moremportant. This is a good feeling because I’m doing a dry-run for next week when I start my trip away – part 1. Now I’m thinking about whether one battery is enough for my new camera. There’s always one thing or another. The next thing to jump in to my mind is whether or not my solar charger is any good – let me chch my phone – 15 minutes ago it was on 50% and now it’s on 58%, but that might have all come from the powerbank and not the very rare Scotish sunshine.

I am happier with the typing situation. Before now I’d have had to look for a cafe and try to work quickly. Now I can type away at my leisure and not be distracted by e-mail or social media. There’s no pressure to type anything, no distractions. Just let me check my phone and see if my camera is charging.

I have two bars out of three on my camera and my phone doesn’t want to tell me, and RED squirrel! I’ve always seen signs promising the chance to see them and now I see them running around the campsite and eating peanuts on the feeder at the cafe. This is the highlight of the trip.

The rain is spitting again. It’s been a good day so far. I’m sure it won’t last. Neither will my charge on my phone. It’s gone down to 56%!

I’m distracting away from the fact that I didn’t walk up Cairngorm today. My map reading and direction aren’t great, and I wasn’t that up for it. My legs were saying the same too. So I want for a walk and took some pictures. If the weather improves I’ll ride up there again. I can rest up in the tent and keep taping away. I might even give myself a treat and drive in to town for supplies. Part of me wants to ride in and attack the Brewery to Pub course, but common sense is kicking in. So I’m going to come back with enough snacks and food to make a one-pot stew. Cooking is only a good option if these rain showers stop. Time to put some jeans on and drive off for a while.
