I did get up and go!
There is one slight regret. On Sunday morning there was a wood pigeon on my feeder looking more than worse for wear. He looked as if he’d been attacked on the back of his head. Worse than that, his beak looked a bit bloodied and he couldn’t close it. When I went outside around the back he’d flown away. I could have stayed to see if I could help, but I needed to get away. Otherwise, I never would have left.

So here I am, on a sunny summers day at the Stackpole Inn. I’d take a picture, but the battery life of my new Limux G camera is driving me up the wall. Never mind!
Barafundle Bay
I’ve never heard of it and it’s the best beach you’ve never heard of too. A man on the campsite at St Pretox farm told me about it. He was helping out with the annual ‘A’ level field trip from a college in Ludlow. If he hadn’t told me, I never would have know to visit. At some point there’ll be some pictures. All I’ll say for now it that it was well worth the walk, the sand was clean, the water was great to swim in, and the whole place is situated on an old fault line which is visible and obvious. As usual, to get to the sea there’s a nice downhill ride.

There was a dead juvenile starling outside my block of flats on Sunday as well. I’m a bit worried that I’ve over fed the birds. It’s probably a good thing I’m away for a while. From now on, they are getting peanuts, suet blocks in a block feeder and water. They can do without the window feeder over the Summer months.
Gravel!

In my experience, the further you travel away from the big towns and cities, the worse the road re-surfacing becomes. The ride from St Petrox to Barafundle would have been a struggle for a gravel bike. When my front wheel stopped turning, I knew that pushing would be the best bet. Luckily, I ddn’t have to push it for too long. Unluckily, I mis-judged my ride back from Tenby (I went to Tenby) and found myself on the same stretch of road and a little bit more on the way to the Stackpole Inn.
Tenby
I thought about visiting, and taking a wrong turn on the way back from Barafundle Bay was the nudge I needed. It was well worth the trip. Here’s some arty’ish shots.

Other pictures will have to wait for another day. There are too many devices wanting a charge. One great thing is that the town centre is closed to traffic 1st July to 13th September 1100 to 1730. More towns should do this.
Stars
Tonight is the last of my two nights before I move on. The best thing is that it’s a farm site and it’s not lit up at night. This is great for stargazers like me. Sunset is 2141 and if I stay up for a few hours I’m expecting a great show! It’s a beautiful evening but it’s 2025 and it’s getting a little chilly. Time to go back to the tent and work out where I’m going tomorrow. My guess will be the farthest outcrop of land I can find!
