Tetris 99

I picked up my Nintendo Switch for the first time in ages. Now I have an addiction to manage. This is classic substitution, probably for drinking.

Tetris 99 is a play on the classic version of Tetris, but in a battle mode against 98 other players. This is a similar concept to Fortnite, but as far as I know there aren’t any extra power-up updates asking for my money. But from what I understand, it does reward players who play more.

The difference with this version is that not only are you building and clearing your own lines, you can send junk lines to other players, and they do the same to you. The result is a very quick game if you make a few wrong moves, and a slightly longer more stressfull game if you last longer. At this point, you’re hooked!

I suppose I’ll fool myself in to thinking that this is looking after my reactions and keeping me mentally active. This isn’t a bad assumption and seems plausible. Some addictions may actually be good for you, I can take it or leave it. Seriously, it’s not a problem at all!

Given the choice, I’d like to be a little more addicted to exercise, but I just don’t have the energy. Whereas, sitting down and turning into a Tetris nija isn’t physically tiring. And I’d be the first to tell you that mental activity can burn calories. More than that, just thinking about exercise can make you up to 5% fitter and stronger than doing nothing.

Following on the theme, I working on the idea that looking interesting can actually end up making you interesting if you keep putting the effort in. That’s why I’m making my coffee last as long as I can as I’m sitting on some sacks of coffee beans in my usual cafe.

All thins brings me to the kick start on becoming a job hunter again. I need to become a great potential employee. Which is a pain, because I was hoping to be abroad now, but I timed a few things wrong, and a job interview happened next week. Now I’m waiting on a reply about whether or not there will be a second interview. My rail ticket runs out on 25th August. I need to prepare to leave.
