One More Day

After the excitement of last night I couldn’t sleep, but that’s beer for you. It really messes up your sleep pattern. If I am going to drink, it’s not going to be much from now on. After watching the game and the celebrations, I had a pint in the hotel bar. Beer makes you drink more beer!

Something stuck me this morning. I was due to check out tomorrow with no plans for my next stop – bugger! I knew this would happen. It’s the reason I’m here. After an hour or so, the best option was to stay in Paris for another day and leave on Monday. I headed to Gare Du Nord without any correct directions in my head, mulled around a Metro station and jumped on a train, then off to have a wander before giving in and using my phone for directions. Then I bought a coffee in the station, stared at my laptop for an hour and decided to head to Lyon at 1331 from Gare Du Lyon in Paris – where ever that is!

I made it to the Pompidou Centre and I’m sitting on the outside looking at the view of Paris. There’s no need to move. I can relax and enjoy the feeling before working out where to camp on my next stop. As long as I have the next couple of days planned, I’ll be un-stressed. What I want is a campsite in the mountains and the internet is there to help me.

The Pompidou was a bit of a mystery. I didn’t have clue what was in there. Turns out it was full of art.

And the famous urinal.

The place doesn’t look much from the outside, but it was designed that way.

And the views are fantastic.

I now have a different feeling about Paris. The exhibitions were fantastic and after four hours I decided that I had a good viewing. When I come here again it will be high on my list to see what they will come up with next. After that, I deserved a treat! And this will be my other reason to return.

Tomorrow is a total cafe and planning day. All I need to do is tick off the Arc de Triumph and the tower. I think I’ll have three nights in Lyon if I can get booked in to a campsite and head off to Interlaken for three days. This extra night has been a big help.

There will be more walking. It helps me see great eating places for another time. I’m living off breakfast and the baguette sandwiches I make during breakfast. It’s Sunday already 0:01! Time for bed.
