Yesterday was interesting!I’ve made it to my train and I’m on my way to Lyon Part Dieu. I’ll just enjoy the trip for now. There’s something I like about double decker trains. We don’t have them at home, and if we did, I don’t think I would be sitting in one as nice. For a start, it was first class. And having one row of double seats and one row of single seats gives everyone so much room. There’s room for bags too! It is possible that I slept for half the journey, because I think my phone was hacked on Sunday 21st.For the third day running, I got up, had breakfast, and made my packed lunch. Making lunchtime sandwiches during breakfast is a great idea. It might look as if I’m being a bit tight with my money, but I have to keep costs down on the hotel days, and you never know when a beer might cost 9.90! Then I set off on a 6KM walk to the Eiffel Tower with Google maps in hand on a hot day. Very soon, I had a view of it down a long street. It’s always good to know you’re walkig the right way. Not long after setting off, I found a park, and parked myself there for an hour in the sun.I’m not a big fan of yoga. My view is that it is monetized streching. But people seem to like it and socialise. There’s the wierd spiritual thing that hangs around in the background too. What I do like is that I think I’ve learned how to do a headstand the easy way. All I need is a place to try when no-one can see me giving it a go. What you do is put your hands behind your head and use your forearms as a base. So, thank you yoga class in a park somewhere near Clichy! There were two things I needed to tick off my list on my final full day in Paris. Here’s the first:

The Arc de Triumph is larger than I imagined, and this was the busiest place I’d been so far. I followed an underpass to get to closer to the Arc, but was a but saved the money and the queing time to get to the top.And to the second and final thing on my list:
The whole area was much more than I imagined and I’d happily return. I took a picture and sent it to Pete and Dave, joking with Pete that he should visit some day. Then Messenger sent a gif after installing Giphy somehow, and I panicked. I deleted the message thread and then wiped my Chomebook and my phone. There were problems with doing this:
- I couldn’t remember my MIFI wifi password
- I panicked again and reset the device
- The password sticker on the back was unreadable
- My mobie phone wasn’t set up for roaming
- I was using maps on my phone to find my way around!
The good news is that at least I’d worked out that I needed to cross the river to at least to have a chance of working out where to go. Don’t panic! Outside a hotel I managed to logon and get some basic instructions, which led me to Boulevard Rembrant, which looks like the nicest part of town:

After a nice walk through a park, I finally foud Port de Clichy. The T3 tran has a stop there, and I found my way back tp Epinettes (something) and I was home after five hours. It was a good way to have a look around!
I needed a couple of cans in the hotel bar while I worked out how to get back on line. One and a half hours later, I realised that my mobile was TalkTalk and not EE! Service was resumed at 1000 the next morning after staying up until 0130. This was late enough to see a little mouse in the hotel reception.
I was back on track again – after a little wander around looking for the correct metro station.
My stop was Lyon Part Diue with no idea of which bus to catch when sweat was dripping down my nose. Time to find WiFi and download the Moovit app – a life saver! The bus ride almost killed me. I had 15 stops of very packed and very hot, then the second bus of 15 stops with room and a place to sit.
This is great campsite. I don’t have to make any food, there’s a shady place for the tent, and the water tap is very close. I drank litres of the stuff last night. We are having a heatwave in France and my first effort at sleeping failed. I needed a walk, and then had the best night’s sleep in a tent ever. My new inflatable pillow was the key. This meant that I almost missed breakfast.
Today I have just relaxed and added three more nights to my stay. That means I can leave on Sunday and have a good look around Lyon and use a three day city pass. There’s no rush!
