5th August 2019 – Breakfast before 0800 was long. There were multiple coffees, smoothies, blue stilton and yogurt.
Janos is meeting me after 1800 in my hotel. It’s good to have a place in the centre of town this time. Everything becomes easier. This was a relaxing morning with a swim – my stroke is getting better – and some time on the sun lounger under a towel to keep me in the shade.
I am okay for money, but with pending transactions I only have £273 left until my new funds appear in my account. Tomorrow, I must keep and eye on this.
I haven’t done my hip any favours carrying the big bag. That’s why it was worth the 18 Euros in a taxi to the Hubanhoft. That gave me an hour to make sure I caught the train I’m on now. On the platform I saw my carriage 22 whizz past and I made a rush just to be sure I was on it. This is anothet 2-1 seating plan and there’s loads of room. It looks old and modern. I was hoping for coffee and snacks, but that looks like it doesn’t happen. I’ll survive!
Time on the sun lounger reminded me that I need to do stuff. This is another no research visit. But a museum or two will be good. And an outdoor swimming pool.
Gyor: Have I crossed the border? I think I’m in Hungary. I didn’t think about the currency. One pound is 355.5 HUF. I wonder what I’ll get out of the cash machine. Coins 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200FT. Notes 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 5000, 10000, and 20000FT. 1,000FT is £2.80!
Phew! I have EU data roaming. My text says I’m in Hungary. 1618 and 59 minutes to go. I could murder a bowl of goulash.
Hungary: Biros, holograms, Rubix Cube!
