European Parliament Ferme

15 August 2019

I called Columbus to make an insurance claim. The website didn’t like my phone and my type of trip. Two claims 2 x £75 excess. Once I’m back on line, I should find an email they sent me. All I need now is to find proof of purchase for both. These are just things and I’ll end up with upgrades. Even when you think you’re keeping an eye on things you can slip up.

I decided to visit the European Parliament. There was a feeling of sadness and a lump in my throat thinking about the loons threatening to to crash out on 31st October. Listening to the radio before I left, a bloke called Andrew Bridgen was still going on about Brexit as if it was a negotiation to buy a car and walking away if we don’t like the deal. That’s crazy and simplistic. A texter left a message saying that they would prefer a no-deal do a Marxist Corbyn government. Madness!

A short walk brought me to the cathedral and an okay cup of coffee for 3.30. Time to find some food.

I’m probably blowing my budget a little. Cafe Rohan has just served me a ricotta lasange with salad and a grande Fisher to drink (slight short measure!). I’m happy. The culture part of my trip is complete. I’ve visted the museum next to the cathedral.

I like being back in France. This must have been part of Germany at some time in it’s history. The wine options give that away. I’m eating Chinese tonight.

I’ve just been up sold. Another beer would have been great, but it’s 1455 and coffee is a much better idea. I need to sort out Mam’s birthday present. But for now I’ll listen to Django Rhienhart and Stephan Grappeli on the music system. It’ll be them. Who else can it be?

Just for a while, I need to return to the hotel for a nap. And I think the room is a little lonely. None of the TV channels are in English. Radio is an option, but it’s garbled nonsense these days. I had to think about my return plan too. The plan was to meet Mam and Dad, but they’re off-line. My train ticket is booked and I’m yet to book accommodation. Money is finally becoming a concern. There’s no need to panic, but I want enough to go away again if I want to.

I eneded up in a Chinese buffet in town. This wasn’t my ideal destination, but the food was fine and I had my fill. But I wish I’d taken the raw option and had the chef with a wok cook it. 21.80 Euros with a beer.

Back home with a full belly and a good sleep.
