Time flies
It’s Thursday night already. This isn’t great, because I never do anything on Fridays. On the other hand, there’s no pressure on me tomorrow. What it is is another day and they are flying past. And these days I don’t know if gaps in this blog are because things are going badly or if I’m making myself busy.
This week I think my routine has returned. The 0630 starts haven’t happened, but I have been at my desk at 0900 most days. My plan this week is to develop a web site. I’ve made progress, but the going is slow. That doesn’t matter if I make progress, which I think I have. This leads to looking out the window and checking up on the birds.
This morning, I decided to give them fresh water and top up the peanut feeder with some cherry flavour suet pellets too. And on the way, there was evidence of some action.

I’m missing a wood pigeon and I’m guessing that the sparrowhawk has returned. A cat could have been on the prowl, but I haven’t seen one in ages. The thing that confuses me a little is that my birds are well fed and it would be a big effort for a cat or a sparrowhawk to carry a fat wood pigeon. I’m getting used to losing birds and the RSPB state that this is a sign of a healthy bird population. It’s just a shame that the folliage cover of the trees was cut back as harshly as it was last week.
On the plus side, the starlings are back and they’ve almost grown up. Even better, I’m confident a Great Tit will finally land on the window feeder.
I’ll write about what I’ve been doing in tomorrow’s entry.
