I needed a success today

Life can be a little frustrating. You try to do something, then something goes wrong, and then you look for answers on the web. Sometimes you do get the answer, but mostly it’s people having arguments. My problem was something working, but not looking quite right. This was bugging me.

There are many pressing issues in my life right now. Okay, one big pressing issue. But I needed to sort out my digital hygene. In this case, it was setting up my add blocker. And here it is!

This is my PiHole, which is running on a Pi Zero W. It’s my DHCP server instead of my router now and the good thing is that I don’t get adverts on YouTube and newspaper websites. I’m not a big fan of the Daily Mail Online, but I can look at it with out loads of annying adverts. That makes me happy and in a very small way I think I’m winning, which I’m not. But this is exactly the kind of thing I should be doing, or at least I think so.

What I’ve done is clean up my house (ok, flat) and my digital house. These were things that were long overdue – long, long overdue. But the important thing is that I’ve just done it. And now I can sit down at my laptop in the morning and know that I can be a step closer to concentrating.

That’s all I have right now. Just know that this is important, eventhough I should have been able to do it months ago if I paid more attention. But that’s my problem and I know it.
