Piano

Two days ago, this seemed like a good subject to write about.

I’ll let you decide how well it’s going. Oh, look! Alpacas!

I bought a Yamaha keyboard a few years ago and lied to myself that I could learn to play. Over time, it’s moved from room to room mocking me – just like my guitar. The keyboard wasn’t expensive, but it looks good, so good that it looks like I should be able to play it.

When you have big life things going on, sometimes a distraction can help. In this case, taking up piano again is another bloody distraction. But the truth is that I need it, especially because I was running out of things to write about. And the good thing is that I suppose it may help, but I’m not too sure about it. Suddenly, after some early progress I’ve hit a wall and all I can do is write about hitting the wall.

What I’m going to do is promise to try at least ten minutes each day. That’s 70 minutes a week and errrrrrr (where’s my calculator?) about 61 hours a year. Nope, that’s not enough! I’ll try 20 minutes a day which is as much as I can pretend to do. Perhaps I need a few intense days and make a huge jump to become unstuck – which is part of my underlying theme.

Normal people may be confused as to why I’ve posted a picture of this green lizzardy thing I took today, but I took many photos today and I needed some content. I needed something to do and my cameras needed a run out. I’m not sure if all the film was loaded correctly in the vintage cameras, but I’m confident I haven’t made a mess of things and maybe just the Retinette could be an issue. Either way, I should have some good shots. I’ll get a few blogs out of my recent photos, more out of the piano frustration, and even more out of starting an exercise routine again. All the while distracting me from the huge elephants in my rooms.

One more picture won’t hurt. Just looking at these tortoises under heat lamps warms me up.

I’ve enjoyed doing this, and despite it being a bit of a struggle to get out today/this year/this decade/this century it was a good thing to do. Breaking the routine slows time down and makes life more interesting.

Tomorrow morning, I’ll thing about a press-up/sit-up routine.
