Hobby Photography

I haven’t touched the piano since I said I would…………….

Taking photos with old cameras can be a bit touch and go. It’s a hobby where mistakes cost money. These kind of mistakes make sure you will try your best that they don’t happen again. My most important messages are to make sure that the rewind spool moves around when you wind on the film for the next shot and under no circumstances drop-kick a Kodak 66!

The good news is that the camera recovered to take a picture of this fella. If I was paying attention I’d tell you what you’re looking at. But the main thing for me is that I took a picture that I’d forgotten about. It’s not perfect, but it is good.

On the other hand, these two shots make me happy and sad because I can see how good they would have been.

It was raining a little and there may have been some water on the lens, but I was being careful. This makes me think that the film didn’t like the shock. What this means is that I need to go back and take the shots again, which isn’t a hardship. But arhggggggggggggg all the same.

Here are some great shots I took over Christmas.

The old 66 is such a great camera. I really hope that I haven’t damaged it and I don’t think I have, but I won’t find out until I shoot off another eight and then send the film off to be processed. But the results when they work are fantastic and this gives me hope. So, please, please don’t break ol’ 66! This blog is a tribute to you. Other cameras can wait. I know you’re colour film is a bit expensive and processing could be cheaper, but you could be my way out.

I have taken some good shots on my phone. For example, these ones.

The problem is knowing how much better a picture could be. Having said that, the best camera you have is the one you have in your hand at the time. This weekend’s weather doesn’t look great. It’s mocking me, because it’s fine for the next couple of days and great from Monday. I think I might take the tent and head down to Dorset for a few nights over the weekend instead. Some fresh air and new photo opportunities are just the kind of thing I need right now.

My next blog could include my greatest photo so far!
