Covid-19

In other news (I’ve just made up) discussion rages on Twitter about the correct pronoun for the Covid-19 virus.

But first, lets have a look at some pictures of a dunnock I took today. It was a quiet bird day and the squirrels were nowhere to be seen, so this little fella got most of my attention.

And a robin was buzzing around.

It was a quiet time at the pond. I’m guessing that’s because of the virus that’s going around which has been upgraded to a pandemic. In all my years, this is my first one and it’s definitely not a good thing. I’ve had close shaves with SARS, MERS, Bird Flu, and Ebola which gives the false feeling of having nothing to worry about. But this time, even the dumbest world leaders are starting to realise that they are in charge and in charge when loads of people die.

I’m worried about this because having another chest infection is not a lot of fun, given past experience. On the plus side I have experience of dealing with this kind of thing – but not this thing. This thing is new and it’s bad news for a lot of people.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger………..

…………has been said by absolutely no one recently. This may be because money can’t help you with this one. There’s no vaccine and no cure. It’s the kind of thing people who don’t expect to catch something says. Nor can they get away with saying only people who lack common sense will die – are you paying attention Jacob Reese Mogg?

The best thing I can do is go outside and get some fresh air. Enough food has been bought and now I can go outside where no one else is. The air is looking much better and the sun come out every now and then in between the storms. What I did notice as I rode to the park was how out of shape I was. No is the time to stop my decline since September.

Becoming unfit is like a nice comfortable blanket. you don’t realise and you feel great, until you try some real exercise. So now is a good time to get out on the bike when the air is good and feed the squirrels when nobody else is.

I have bigger things going on, but I’m sure they’ll get sorted out. And when they do I’ll have loads of photos to look back on.

An after thought, but I needed to add this:

None of this would have happened if we had brought the telephone handset sanitizer technicians with us.

I can’t leave this blog alone. I’m resisting the urge to add to my Facebook posts with this question: Why aren’t old people fucking furious that they are going to take the brunt of the Covid-19 crisis and the NHS has been run down to breaking point? This is awful. I suppose on some level they can be stoic. This could be their National Service, never having the chance to die a hero’s death. Somewhere along the line they will think that they are doing a good thing. On the other hand many may have just had enough of life in this country and welcome the touch of the grim reaper. It’s the lack of compassion from this Boris Johnson government that gets me. There’s no humanity at all.

It seems to me that the tactic of the UK Government is to throw loads of bodies at the problem and let the virus tire itself out. In this war the cannon fodder is older people. But I do accept that Italy seems to have a great health system and they are being forced in to very difficult decisions where old people are concerned.

And another thing!

It turns out that China makes the antibiotics and ventilator machines we need. What the hell is going on?

Friday 13th 2020: If the Johnson Government is being led by science I wonder what the consensus is. Global warming/heating has a 98% consensus among scientists. Regarding the science around the herd immunity plan which requires that many people catch Covid-19 and loved ones will die plan, what’s the consensus there? This is from a government that hired and fired an advisor who was a fan of eugenics.

Just in!

Local elections postponed until 2021, football postponed until April, kids still need to go to school in order to spread the virus! I think this is a consent issue.
