Holly

I’m putting off wrtting one of my other entries, which should be a good one and I don’t want to mess it up. So here’s this one instead.

As day 10 of the first three weeks of the first three week lockdown continues, life goes on. It goes on for most of us at the moment. Things aren’t looking great and all we can do is try and say safe. That’s why I’m living on the food I stockpiled over the last month. And when I say stockpiled I lived almost exclusively on chickpeas for the first week. There was a beer collection from the brewery and a collection from the brewery, not to mention a cheese and beer delivery, but that’s about it. From now on, it’s essentials all the way. And that’s why I’m not risking going out for milk, butter, and bread. When this is all over I’ll probably not buy them again and that almost makes me a vegan, because I’m not bothering with any meat either.

I’m living in lockdown by decree by our great leader. As there’s very little reason to go out, all I do is check the bird feeders and think about visiting the park, which I don’t because it’s unusually cold for this time of year. Our PM Boris on the other hand is enjoying forced self isolation for seven days after testing positive for CV-19 and at the time was displaying mild symptoms. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommend 14 days because the virus can still be passed on after the mild symptoms have gone away. But hey, the British buldog spirit will take it on the chin.

Bozza is still in charge and running the country by video call. Here’s a picture from his Twitter feed today, addressing what is left of the Cabinet:

Lets look at this in a little detail:

  1. He looks fine I suppose. But a media savy PM must be able to do better than this.
  2. If I was going to call in sick, I’d look something like this.
  3. He doesn’t look in charge.
  4. He didn’t take this picture. So, either someone sent this picture and he Tweeted it. Or, more likely, someone else runs his Twitter account.
  5. Perhaps this is the best picture he took. Or, someone wants to make him look weak.
  6. Finally, what we can’t see in the picture raises more questions than answers, knowing that he has a disease, no matter how mild.

I have more time on my hands than I should have, but somehow the pressure of looking for work in the wake of the serious events going on at the moment. And being a Red Dwarf fan of 30 odd years, this seemed an easy thing to do. I was wondering when the QUEEG protocol would kick in, but for now, we have Holly in charge. Everything is fine. Emergency, emergency. There’s an emergency going on!

And that’s it really. This is one for the geeks. Stay safe, it’s cold outside, with no kind of atmosphere.
