I needed to make up for not cycling in the sun, yesterday.
My Kodak 66 has been waiting for me to finish off the final few exposures. And today, I think I’ve taken some good pictures. The Retinette 1b needed a good run out and I used up a whole Kodak Tri-X 400 film, or maybe a T-MAX 400 black and white film. I did make a bit of a mess of the loading, or thought I did and wound it back and then loaded it again. Anyway, I’m sure it will be fine and I’m looking forward to see what I’ve taken.
Going outside definitely feels like a risk right now. Shopping is an option if I need it, but I have more than enough in. Visits for snacks are completely out of the question. And buying snacks and treats when shopping seems way too frivolous. I’m even thinking twice about having food delivered. And thankfully, I’ve drank all my beer. It’s probably best to leave it for a few days now.
All things considered, my bike ride was a good idea, but I did feel a bit guilty for being outside for two hours on my 22 mile outing. It was a great day for photos and just getting out. But I life does feel a bit scary right now. But getting out and about is important too, even if the air isn’t as clean as you’d expect during a lockdown.

Just outside of Aldworth I saw a gentleman on what looked like a very old Brompton bike. Rolling along very slowly and keeping a distance I asked if I could take a few photos on the bike. It turns out that what he was riding was the 20th Brompton off the production line and he was the first shareholder with and investment of £1,000 way back in the 70’s.
Now I know that old cameras are a bit like having a dog. They’re a conversation starter and you can take pictures of dogs and bikes. It’s not the easiest of times, but I’ll see what else I can talk about and take pictures of.
I’m going to keep getting out and riding. This is the right thing to do. Bad times are no reason to stop looking after yourself. Everything feels a bit trivial, but we have to keep going.
On the way, I saw this!

There will be a story as to why a Ford Transit van is missing it’s back doors. Once again, it’s what you can’t see that makes the picture. It’s abstaction and I like it.
And finally, I took this picture of the Bell. It’s the pub where I normally stop to ask directions home!

I expect that I would have been closed during the day on a Monday anyway, but this was a great time to take some B\W photos.
There is some very big news going on at the moment. I think it might be best to write about that tomorrow.
