I’ve bought some new cables!
Ever since I chucked my rubbish old telly out, I haven’t been able to use my Gamecube. Who wants to use an old games console anyway? I do! And now that I’m catching up with myself (slowly) I now have a a composite to HDMI connector and a composite cable.
I was happy for a while, but when I started my F1 racing career, anxiety kicked in after I lost my job driving for Arrows and tried to keep my role with European Minardi. But on the other hand it’s been an imersive experience and playing the game takes all my attention. Distractions mean that I might crash and lose race position which means that for a while, nothing else matters. This is as good as meditation, it’s improving my concentration and the freedome from my worries disapear for a little while. This gives me a mental break. Sometimes, you have to do what you have to do. You’re going to do it anyway, so it’s best not to fight the feeling.
Playing games can be a great, pointless waste of time. And by saying great I mean a great waste of time and a great waste of time. This is ambiguous, but ambiguity is all the rage at the moment. If that confuses you, you should have listened to our Prime Minister at 1900 today. Confusion reigns!
Life can be very hard, so there’s no point in not doing things you enjoy to make things a little better. You may be reconnecting with your younger self, or sitting down with a beer. We all have choices (kind of) and there’s no point in making yourself unhappy to feel more grown up or responsible.
There is a balance, but you have to over balance to find out where the balance is. And just when you’ve found the magic spot, the world changes again. I supposed the trick is taking time to reassess where you are every week or so and check whether everything is going well or not. And I really shouldn’t be trying to justify this to myself over a Bank Holiday weekend during a Coronovirus lockdown. Tomorrow is Monday and that wil be the test to see if I can finally start being productive and earning some money again. Gamecube can be my treat instead of drinking beer.
I miss cafes and writing three blogs in a row on a Friday in the Brewery tap room!
