I’m in the great outdoors!
This year has been a pain in the arse. Not least, that I had a valid excuse for not going anywhere. And I hate not having a vaild excuse for not doing stuff. Yes, that’s what I said!
After the loostening of lockdown restrictions I found a campsite in East Yorkshire with great sea bird viewing options not far away. Finding places to camp is quite hard at the moment and it’s good to know I’ve found a decent farm. £22/night seems fine. The site is very calm and the tent pegs went in without hitting any stones. There’s powerlines (and telephone lines), but that’s all part of living in the modern world. Traffic noise is a pain, because we’re quite a long way from the busy roads, but they are busy roads. The good news is that it doesn’t drown out the birds song. I’ve been promised a little owl from about 2130 and been told that it doesn’t shut up!
Being out on the road again feels okay. The whole opperation of getting me moving, trying to sort out all of my mess, and trying to bring everything I need is not easy. I mostly remembered everything. If I didn’t remember the thing I needed, the backup thing was packed, so it’s no big deal. I packed way too much! But that means that there’s no rush to get home. Four nights could turn in to six if I can find regular charging points for the Chromebook. If I’m lucky, the car might add enough juice to keep me going.
The “cooking wine” I bought is almost gone and I regret using so much of it in my chicken casserole, but there’s enough left now that it’s 2140 and getting a little bit chilly under the clear sky. My binoculars are at the ready and I’m hoping to see a comet tonight, but I doubt I’ll put the effort in. Today has been okay. The weather for the rest of the week doesn’t look great, but it’s far from bad.
