Catching up with myself.
I drank too much white wine after my first stop in Butts Farm. All I had for a plan was to arrive in time, pitch up and put a pan of food on, which I did. In the end some wine was left when I fell asleep. And so, my start to the next day was a bit slow. But I needed to do something else from my list and see some birds. By accident and campsite availability I arrived in a great area of the country.
Seeing puffins was on my list and I thought I’d need to visit Northumberland, but I didn’t!

My other highlight was seeing loads of tree sparrows. That’s not what most people visit Bentham Cliffs for, but that was something special because they are so rare these days. So all in all it was a good day, but it would have been nice to have been closer and avoid an 80 mile return trip. Having said that, I wouldn’t have visted Flamborough Head and taken some great pictures. They’ll have to wait for a day or two – and longer for the real film photos.
I’ve just reminded myself – who else? – that the Retinette 1b is on its final, final chance. The last time I used it, I thought it was a complete fail, but it was winding on. The shot count is all messed up and there’s another ten exposures after 36 and I don’t have a clue what’s happening. There’ll be another note written the the developers, just to let them know. The Trip is my workhorse and the 66 is my vanity project. I’m expecting some half decent photos, but as always not many, followed by a few more I like, and then a few more I can edit and look arty.
The next stage of my trip was visiting Mam and Dad somewhere local to them. Tomorrow was a driving day. I’ll write about that another day. I’m still processing the Covid-19 thing. It was the main reason I travelled all the way up north and I’m happy I did it.
I need to slow down a bit. The driving takes time and I need to just tify my time by doing loads of things. What next then? A drive 77 miles down to Skipton to another campsite and a late arrival, not knowing what my pitch would be like. I need another blog for that!
