I’m so excited. What are you getting for Freedom Day?
Inspite of all the evidence, Boris Johnson our great leader has declared Monday 19th July 2021 as “Freedom Day”. It’s not exactly sure what Freedom Day is. Rules are being relaxed, or are they? You don’t have to wear facemasks indoors in public places, but it’s recommended, but it’s not. Go to the office, but gradually. Self isolate, but don’t. You get the idea.
I’m not happy. Eventhough I’m double vaxed, I don’t know if I’ll catch covid-19 (Delta variant at the time of writting). More people will be in the office tomorrow and we don’t have windows that open. That means our air-con will have to expel the air in the room. It will be cool though. If I were at home, the temperature will be up to 27C. The best I can do is go in and see how things go. But to be honest, I have to because my laptop is there.

I never trusted the NHSX Covid app. All I used it for was to sign-in to pubs and then I removed it. Five times was enough for me and it was never used for track and trace anyway.
The other feature was bluetooth proximity, which would tell you to isolate when you’ve been in close contact with someone who tested positive, or someone who had not tested positive, but had been in touch with a person who tested positive. None of the self isolation notified by the app was a legal responsibility. It turns out that an app telling you to self isolate was just information. A call from a track and trace person meant that you MUST isolate.
My worry is that I’ll get a call from track and trace, but I don’t think that the disasterous Serco track and trace exists any more. And so, we’ll have to wait until someone in the office gets sick or stays away from the office because someone in the office has it.
The whole Freedom Day is a massive gamble that will no doubt release a Beta version of the Epsilon variant, leading to another lockdown. The need for this next lockdown will become apparent in about a week from now and will be unavoidable in three to four weeks.
In summary, I’m not happy about the state of this country and I’m scared about tomorrow.
Heatwave
I was going to write a blog about this, but I can’t be bothered. It’s 2315, warm and I don’t want to go to work tomorrow. I’ll feel different in the moning. But despite great weather, I’ve done very little this weekend. I did take some bird pictures though!

Bird pictures make everything better!
