A Different Turn

I might say more about my day at some point, but thoughts pop in to my head and I have to let them out. My thought for the day: Why can women wear cardigans at any point in their life, but as soon as a bloke even buys one he’s becoming an old man? In the scheme of things, it’s no big thing, but I’d quite like a cardigan. There’s only a limited amount of time I can get away with a t-shirt and jeans. And I can’t get away with the smart and successful look. For one, I can’t afford it, and secondly it may look like I’m trying too hard. The third way is finding my own look, and I want an nice comfortable cardy.

After this mornings adventures on the hotel bike, I headed back to the hotel for a swim. Pools look much larger than they are on websites! A father and his young sons were having a great time and it would have been a shame to disturb them. Swimming round them would even have been an option given the width of the pool, so I watched a little bit of sport on TV and though about heading out again.

Tomorrow, I will go for a morning run in the park. I can’t have such a great place so close and not use it. Especially, when I look at a park I say to myself that there’s absolutely no excise for not getting out and getting fit. I’d go to the Olympic park with loads of great hills, but that one is too far away! I’ll make sure Strava is switched on and that I look my best out there. I rode up a really steep hill on my super heavy hire bike twice (well almost twice) today. The second time was to see if there was a Strava segment for it. I wasn’t happy to see that I had’t pressed Start, but it was only a little nice to have. Strava will mean I have my phone with me, and if I have my phone, it will help me when I lose all sense of direction, again.

There’s real usefulness in getting lost. That’s because sometimes you end up exactly where you wanted to be in the first place. In this case, I was where it all happens in the centre of Munich, finding myself a little out of my depth in a great Bavarian restaurant, and letting a cardigan question my image. I really couldn’t tell if the pint of Clausthaler Alkohofrei was real beer or not. I didn’t see it poured. The only clue was that I didn’t want another one, even before the current drink was drunk.

I got lost on the way back again. And I’m blaming the app on my phone. As soon as I used the Google app I was heading the right way in no time. I’m please about that. The daytime was warm, but the evening told me that winter is not far away.

Tomorrow is vinyl record shopping, and going back to the place where I ate this evening.
